FuelForward Mentoring Guide
Getting the most from your mentor
I think there is a big fear of letting people know what you don’t know. You think,

“Okay, I can’t let this person know that I don’t know this. That would hurt my image.”

But having that willingness to be a little bit vulnerable  - showing interest in learning and your admiration for that person’s knowledge - can actually bump up your standing with that person more often than not.

So, people should remove the fear and see that mentoring is a critical path to development,

to strengthening those relationships, and to getting a higher profile in the organization.

Professionals in all walks of life work with coaches and mentors.

Professional baseball players have batting coaches.

Athletes in all sports use trainers and strength and conditioning coaches.

The greatest golfers, Tiger Woods among them, use coaches.

Basketball star Michael Jordan maintained a personal coach throughout his career.

Entertainers use voice and acting coaches.

Politicians are coached on appearance and public speaking.

That's why coaches and mentors are now used in business, too!
